Teams & Tryouts
Beginning with the 2026/27 season, PSA will form teams in accordance with the new U.S. Soccer age group standards, which define age groups based on birthdates from August 1 through July 31, replacing the traditional calendar-year model. This national change is designed to better align soccer age groups with school grade levels and support long-term player development. PSA will primarily evaluate players within their true age group based on date of birth, while still allowing flexibility for players who demonstrate the ability to compete at a higher level or who attend school in the grade above their age cutoff. As with all team placements, final roster decisions are made by PSA’s coaching staff and directors with the best interests of each player’s development in mind.
PSA Monmouth is proud to offer a comprehensive player pathway across all age groups. PSA Monmouth Boys’ and Girls’ teams from U12–U18 compete in the ECNL Regional League (ECNL-RL), providing a highly competitive environment designed to support long-term player development.
Players in the U8–U11 age groups will form teams that compete within the EDP League system, with each player placed on a team at the appropriate playing level by PSA’s professional coaching staff.
Players in the U7 and U8 age groups will participate in the FREE PSA Junior Development Academy (JDA), offered seasonally and focused on skill development, confidence, and a love for the game.
PSA Monmouth is committed to delivering high-quality training and development led by professional coaches. Our staff hold coaching credentials from U.S. Soccer and international governing bodies and bring extensive experience coaching youth players across a wide range of competitive levels. Above all, our coaches are teachers of the game, dedicated to helping each player reach their full potential.
We strongly recommend that all players attend both tryout dates listed below to ensure a thorough evaluation.

Important Tryout Information
- Players must register using the above link before the scheduled tryout date.

Players should arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. This ensures a smooth check-in procedure and a consistent start time for each scheduled tryout.

Players will need to be dressed appropriately to play, shin guards are required.

All current PSA players should wear their current practice uniform.

Non-PSA players will receive a unique number during tryout check-in that they will be required to wear throughout the tryout.

Selections and notifications will be made by the PSA coaching staff in a timely manner throughout the tryout period
